Projects

It's easier to tell you what I have done in a project by project fashion, rather than inferring exactly what I have been able to do by the name of the positions I've been holding.

The next few paragraphs are devoted to projects I've been involved with, or that I'm currently working on. Some of them are not very detailed, to avoid the stealing of ideas or customers, but in general they will be very detailed. When appropriate, links are provided.

Project List

AMIGA Project
The AMIGA project (where AMIGA stands for Analysing the interstellar Medium of Isolated GAlaxies) tries to characterize galaxies who are free from interaction with any other galaxy, in different wavelengths. My implication in the project is technical, and involves the development of Virtual Observatory standards.
More details in the project website:
"Random Access Memory" journal
Thanks to my friends from faq-mac, I'm enjoying a journal, or weblog, or blog for short. What I my writing about? (Sorry, in Spanish for now.) Well, a little about science, a little about intellectual property, much about software and hardware, and very much about different operating systems.
PUBCYS Project
EC Funded Project. I represented Trevenque, and directed project activities since project launch, February 2001, till the moment I quit at Trevenque. Trevenque's part was the development of a PDA based solution for tracking publishing refuse at retailers.
Apart from technical project management activities, I was also responsible for project reporting to the coordinator, and the presentations for Trevenque's activities before the EC.
CiS Libros
CiS Libros is a vertical solution for Book Distribution. It allows a sales agent to take barcode readings of stock lent to bookstores, so that invoicing can be easily based on real sales at retail points, without the bookseller being involved. Other Sales Force Automation capabilities are included.
My role in this project was the development and refinement of the UI and interaction modes, and the programming and optimisation of the software.
CiS Ventas
CiS Ventas is a complete Sales Force Automation tool for any sector. Features include control of many different discounts, both by order line and by whole order; control of payment options, with customer defaults; multi-company; automatic activity control; past orders; due payments with invoice; online update...
My role in this project was the development and refinement of the UI, the programming and optimisation of the software, and giving and receiving feedback from the customer. I also developed marketing materials, and gave sales presentations to prospect clients.
Techneos' Entryware Pro
Entryware Pro is possibly the most complete handheld data capture software, specially conceived for personal face-to-face surveys.
I was asked to analyse existing PDA-based survey software, and decide whether to develop such software, or distribute third party software. After analysing the alternatives, Entryware Pro was chosen, and negotiations started with Techneos. Finally, an agreement was reached.

After the agreement, I saw the need to have the software in Spanish, and together with Techneos performed the translation for all the components of the Entryware System. When planning for the translation of documentation, I proposed a new quick guide, which would be easier to understand and maintain. A new website was also developed.
Finally, in order to streamline customer training, I developed a tutorial and a course guide to be provided to the customer.
