Projects

LST1

The Large Size Telescope for CTA
The LST1 Collaboration consists of more than one hunderd scientists from ten different countries working in the development, deployment and comissioning of the first Large Size Telescope for the Cherenok Telescope Array CTA. The LST1 is located at the Observatorio del Roque de Los Muchachos (ORM) on the Canary Island of La Palma, where a total of four LST telescopes, among others, will operate together at ORM constituting the CTA North site.

Gammapy

A Python package gamma-ray astronomy
Gammapy is an open-source Python package for gamma-ray astronomy built on Numpy and Astropy. It has been chosen as the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) Science Tools, and can also be used to analyse data from existing gamma-ray telescopes.

RJET

Jets Relativistas en Galaxias Activas
Design of a metadata model for the characterization of the VHE research process made by astronomers in the context of the Relativistic Jets and Blazars Group. This model will allow the encapsulation of the whole process into a digital pack ready to be easily inspected, reproduced, and reused by the community.

CTA

Cherenkov Telescope Array
The CTA project is an initiative to build the next generation ground-based very high energy gamma-ray instrument. It will serve as an open observatory to a wide astrophysics community and will provide a deep insight into the non-thermal high-energy universe.

MEGARA

Multi-Espectrógrafo en GTC de Alta Resolución para Astronomía
MEGARA is a facility instrument designed for the 10.4m GTC telescope in La Palma (Spain). It offers two different observing modes to the community, the Large Compact Bundle (LCB) mode, an Integral Field Unit (IFU) covering 12.5" x 11.3" on the sky with a spaxel size of 0.62" and a Multi-Object Spectroscopy (MOS) mode that will allow observing 100 objects in a region of 3.5' x 3.5' around the LCB IFU. Each of the MEGARA MOS positioners can place a mini-bundle of 7 fibers (0.62"/fiber) with an absolute positioning requirement of 25 micron, covering an approximately circular area of 1.6" in diameter on the sky. Both the LCB IFU and MOS capabilities of MEGARA will provide intermediate-to-high spectral resolutions (R~6000, 11000 and 18700).

CANUBE

Ciencia Abierta en la NUBE
CANUBE is a project for the development and diffusion of scientific workflows (mostly applied to astrophysics based on Virtual Observatory data and services), as well as in the promotion of widely used platforms for the design, execution, publising, sharing and re-use. (e.g. Taverna Workflow Management System, MyExperiment)

AMIGA4GAS

AMIGA for GTC, ALMA and SKA pathfinders
Development of web services and VO standards for access, analysis and kinematical modelling of 3D velocity radiointerferometric datacubes. These distributed services and data as building blocks of astronomical scientific workflows, focusing on registering and preserving the complex methodology of a the experiment.

Wf4Ever

Preservation of Scientific Workflows
Wf4Ever aims at providing the methods and tools required to ensure the long-term preservation of scientific workflows in order to support the scientific discovery process and the development of new scientific assets. The AMIGA group participates in the evaluation of the W4Ever platform with astronomical the implementation of astronomical workflows.

AMIGA3

Nature, nurture and VO-tools
Collaboration with the Kapteyn Astronomical Institute for the development of GUIs for a new VO-compliant version of radio 3D data software GIPSY. Development of VO Services for 3D radio velocity cubes based on GIPSY tasks deployed in a software oriented architecture (SoA).

AMIGA+

Development of radioastronomical archives and their integration into the VO
Development of systems allowing the access and display of large radioastronomical databases. These systems follow standards allowing their integration into the Virtual Observatory and have been implemented into the archives of the IRAM-30m and DSS-63 Robledo 70m antennas.
